I bought these filters specifically for sifting almond flour, powdered sugar and granulated sugar for making pasta. The description of the sieves specifically states that they are fine mesh but still suitable for sifting flour and powdered sugar, which is why I chose this particular set. However, sieving any of these powders is extremely difficult! The mesh size is so fine that the powder hardly gets through (even with a hard tap) and most of it just gets stuck in the sieve, which means that nothing can be sieved. It took over 10 minutes to sift just 1 cup of powder and my palm was dark red from the aggressive tapping. I'm sure these filters are good for washing vegetables, making tea, etc. but DO NOT buy them for straining.
