To control the laser via USB. Cat. 5e cable laid, RJ45 plug installed, connections tested with a cable tester, and the connection tested. Nothing. Checked all connections and the remote felt very hot. The smell of hot plastic was everywhere. Replaced it with a long USB cable (which I'm trying to replace) and everything worked great.
