Engaging Children in Climate Change Conversations

Our group has explored several ideas for various locations to create "Brave" installations during our summer camp program at BNA, as well as engaging with local communities about what they think about these concepts throughout Vermont’s Green Mountain State. My favorite project was using interactive devices attached directly to trees by climbers we trained from TreeTop Urban Farm, an organization who works hard to develop new sustainable livelihood opportunities. This device allowed us both children (aged 7-12) and adults to connect together through physical activity while simultaneously sharing their knowledge/views around climate change and energy sustainability. It made working on such topics relevant & fun! We used BNA to develop our program which is called "Dancing Waters." It was an idea we had for creating awareness about water conservation, clean energy practices as well as healthy lifestyles through dance therapy sessions with kids over two years old (at most). Our project became something bigger than what it started out being - instead becoming more like community-building event/project bringing together various stakeholders from different parts of Switzerland's alps region!
