My 11 year old Labrador Retriever gets arthritis. I bought this pillow hoping it would keep him warm on our cold nights and it is. It's not the intense heat you get from a heating pad, but a constant, gentle warmth. The pad itself is a little thinner than I expected and I'm not sure how it will feel on a wire or cement floored kennel. Louie, my spoiled lazy labrador, sleeps on our couch and the bedding is perfect for him. He's very soft, which he likes. As it stands, the carpet should be very easy to care for.
