Buying a new remote controlled fan - had no idea you could buy a good remote control kit at this price and easily upgrade your old fan! Plenty of room for a receiver in my hugger configuration (no lower stem) and 5 easy wire nut connections. You have to keep the wall switch on all the time (the juice doesn't drain until you turn on the remote), but otherwise there are no downsides. It's easier to install on a bottom-shaft fan (more space and no need to remove the blades etc.), while the Hugger fan has less shroud space and you'll likely need to remove the blades.
