My fan also has hanging brackets that allow the fan to hang down when you loosen the support screws, which helped. I bought several of these and switched all the fans in my house to remote control. Very easy to connect, the installation took me about 15 minutes. What I like best is the timer function, which allows you to set both the light and the fan to 1, 2, 4 or 8 hours. This is a very affordable price. It's a bit annoying because of the beeping when you turn on the fan/light or the timer, but it tells you if it's working or not, I'm ok with that. I bought 3 of these to control the Westinghouse lighted ceiling fans in a new home. They cost about half the price of Westinghouse brand remote control kits. They were easy to install and work great.
