I bought a Samsung SSD to replace my main mechanical hard drive and ignored reports of problems with the AMD SATA controller because I think it's stupid that an SSD could have problems this way. Unfortunately I had these issues and only lived with an SSD which performed below expectations with some minor stability issues as even with these issues the system ran much faster than a mechanical HDD. However, after a recent Windows 10 update, the instability worsened when the system froze for 60 seconds and the SSD was stuck at 100%. I've never seen a blue screen, but it was unnerving. I was ready to give up because I couldn't update the SSD's firmware, so I considered returning the Samsung SSD or even switching to an Intel motherboard, which seemed extreme. Enter the solution for $25! I purchased this SATA card after reading some encouraging reviews and am happy to report that this card not only solved my stability issues but also improved overall system performance with night and day testing, the ability to fully support AHCI to enable RAPID mode, which was not possible before, and update the SSD firmware without drama. One caveat: the included cables don't "snap" easily and are a bit short, but still a nice addition if you need cables. The HD activity indicator has stopped working for me, but I can live with that. The SATA card started Windows without any problems after the corresponding drive became bootable in my BIOS. Don't be afraid of the "Boot Manager Missing" message and check the boot order in BIOS.
