Great way to add more SATA to your PC

The unit came in a very plain white box with no frills but it had everything you needed. I just installed it and used it to move 2 of my internal hard drives from 3Gb/s ports to 2 of the 4 6Gb/s ports on the card. It came with SATA data cables that were better than mine. These cables had locks to keep them in place, while some of mine just slipped off and were easily removed. So I quickly swapped them out. I didn't need any settings. The 2 drives I moved were E and H drives on my system. Driveโ€ฆ

SATA 3 Controller - I/O Port Cards

To be honest, my MOBO with AMD Athlon 2.5 GHz processor and 8 GB RAM was installed in 2009 but this device does not work as i installed it. I put it in the slot and turned on the case fans. After that I had to use an external power button to shut down the system. The adapter saw the Samsung SSD but insisted it was an IDE. After that, the system froze and I couldn't get into the Windows settings to adjust the SSD settings. This device might work for some, but it definitely doesn't work for meโ€ฆ

Good. Compact. Linux plug and play.

Bought to build a Linux system (Mint 19.2, AMD Ryzen 5 2400G, Asrock B450M Pro4). I wanted to add SATA ports for Esata and DVD (to avoid interception of M/B ports). Plug and play with BIOS 3.50 and run like a champ (even boot from) DVD. Worked with Esata Drive Enclosure to diagnose hard drives. I also bought a similar SHINESTAR product. It turns out that the cards look the same. It wasn't necessary, so I didn't check that. It's good when everything just works. Many thanks to the engineersโ€ฆ

Great little SATA card

Great little SATA card. It was easy to install into an open PCI slot, plug in hard drives and they were immediately recognized by the BIOS of an Asus Prime H310M-E R2.0 motherboard and Ubuntu Server 20.04 on my home server/NAS. Setting up software RAID was also very easy during installation. Ubuntu server. Uses 2 HGST UltraStar 4TB drives and 2 WD Blue 500GB drives as 2 separate RAID1 sets. It took about 5 hours to sync 4TB drives and about 30 minutes for 500GB drives. Hopefully we'll soon beโ€ฆ

Works but adds a splash screen that delays loading

Works. But every time I boot up the computer it shows a very annoying splash screen and this stupid screen delays the startup by 1-2 seconds. If you want to save money, buy this, otherwise try to find the version without ads.

Basically it works. - Computers and accessories

Does it mainly work? Pros: Inexpensive and easy to install. 4 SATA ports and no special drivers required on Windows 10. Cons: My PC hangs when I try to populate more than 1 SATA port. I do not know why. The size/type of HDD or SSD and which port is used doesn't seem to matter. But when I try to use more than one, Windows doesn't start. Thoughts: The cons of this review may be related to my setup. However, it's a simple device that doesn't require much effort to set up and operate. It currentlyโ€ฆ

Boot problems on Windows 10

As others have said, I had boot problems using Windows 10. I changed my boot disk to Nvme which meant having 2 SATA ports on my board (MSI B450 Tomahawk) were lost. I bought this card to fix this as I have 4 extra hard drives for data storage/backup etc. When I attached hard drives to this card, it wouldn't boot into Windows - it just froze at either the Windows logo or a black screen. I tried many settings in bios but it didn't work. So instead I connected two optical drives to this card andโ€ฆ

Samsung SSD works great in AMD system now!

I bought a Samsung SSD to replace my main mechanical hard drive and ignored reports of problems with the AMD SATA controller because I think it's stupid that an SSD could have problems this way. Unfortunately I had these issues and only lived with an SSD which performed below expectations with some minor stability issues as even with these issues the system ran much faster than a mechanical HDD. However, after a recent Windows 10 update, the instability worsened when the system froze for 60โ€ฆ
