No lubrication or break in. improves it by that This bike doesn't skid We didn't realize it at first, but it's basically a useless balance bike: Skidding is essential to the fun of a balance bike, and the rear wheels on this bike are designed to keep them on their weird spherical axle rub. I don't recommend buying this bike which otherwise seems well made.) Great and sturdy little balance bike. Our grandson loves it. He gets up in the morning and the first thing he does is run to his balance bike and cycle around the house. And he keeps coming back to the bike. This bike is small enough and light enough - and has soft enough wheels - that it doesn't offer much destructive power, although a yearling will care for the space on it. Easy to assemble. Solidly built. This is a great little toy.
