I really needed a simple solution to connect my work laptop and Mac mini to the same peripherals at home. I had trouble with my old 27" Dell monitor, which was great for a laptop with a USB-C port, which then automatically connected to my microphone, speakers, and webcam. But I had to manually switch it every time to use a different computer. .Basically, this monitor has a KVM function. My laptop is connected via a primary powered USB-C port, while my Mac Mini is connected via two cables, HDMI and an additional USB-C port. I configured the Mini to use this additional USB-C via the menu options, so my monitor will now automatically switch peripherals to this device when connected to the display. And since the display automatically detects which input is active, that's not a problem. switch at the touch of a button. Now I can easily switch between two computers without taking up much desk space. A great monitor all round and the Dell customer service is fantastic even if you buy through Revain.
