Review on Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM Lens - Compatible with Canon DSLR Cameras (Lens Only) by Amar ᠌
The best I ever used, recommend it to everybody.
Subjectively - a Canon EF 24-70 2.8L level lens, but with a stub and only for crop sensors. Very comfortable to work with, sharp. For me, the ideal glass "for every day" for crop matrices. Before taking the attached shot, the camera (Canon 70D) with this lens was overwhelmed by the Baikal wave, but nothing pah-pah, everything is alive :) Location: Lake Baikal, Cape Uyuga.

Excellent clarity, high constant aperture, excellent stabilizer. As a landscape-portrait suits perfectly.
Got cons:
For everyday use, I would like a longer focus . And the price is immodest.

I have L-series glasses at work. So I don't see any difference in picture quality. So I advise)
