Review on 🚴 sponeed Men's Cycling Shorts: Padded Bicycle Riding Pants for Ultimate Comfort and Performance by Jeff Jordan

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Worst cycling shorts I've ever worn.

TLDR on the ground floor. Let me explain why I'm throwing these cycling shorts in the trash. I needed extra cycling shorts for training and they seemed cheap and had good reviews. I first ordered a size XL, which turned out to be too big (I tried them on with boxer shorts, don't worry). Returned them and got a set of the big ones and was thrilled to see how they perform on the bike. The padding felt a bit odd at first and the leg holes were pretty tight, but overall they felt good. About 5-10 minutes into my ride, I could feel the ligaments around the leg holes rubbing against the tendons at the back of my knees. It was uncomfortable. I straightened my legs a bit and kept walking. The pain started about 20 minutes later. It's a terrible feeling of friction on the back of the pad. I was tired of conforming, but it got worse. Like someone scratching my poor cheek with a fingernail. I kept trying to adjust the shorts but 30 minutes in them was too unbearable. I switch to my triathlon shorts with thin padding which eased my ailments and was able to complete the ride. I have never experienced this feeling with shorts or riding overalls. And I think I understand why. I have checked the back pads of all the other shorts I own. I've also included a picture of the Sponeed shorts. I think the culprit is circled in red. For some reason they thought it would be nice to incorporate seams that aren't flush with the material right next to the back of the lining. That little spot where the seam was rubbing back and forth. None of the other shorts I have stay in that range? Why? Because it's fucking garbage. This is a terrible place to store a piece of fabric. The people who designed it obviously had no idea what they were doing. Buy something from a well-known brand. I know they are expensive. But wait for the sale. Or buy one of their less flashy shorts. Just don't buy them. TLDR: Poorly designed seam/flap on back of pad causes terrible butt chafing. DO NOT BUY THESE.
