"Why do you need an electric blanket when you're so hot?" says my stupid wife. But there are two main reasons why I chose this electric blanket: 1) The auto shut-off function is 10 hours, which is much longer than most electric blankets. I prefer to stay warm ALL night and other electric blankets auto shut off after 2-4 hours leaves me shivering at 3 or 4am or just before waking when the bedroom is coldest. (I know what you're thinking, and yes, it's too cold to turn it back on when I'm sleepy, grumpy, and cold. Stop making difficult suggestions.) 2) The heat adjustment range is wonderful. If I choose level 2 the throw stays warm, around body temperature (you can feel a very slight warmth) which is perfect for me because combined with the 'hot' as my wife puts it, I'm afraid that more warmth will do that Bed can cause spontaneously ignite. On the other hand, if your room is cold and you want a comfortably warm bed, level 3 or 4 is more than sufficient. I don't know why anyone would want this baby to run at full steam unless they're trying to cook something in bed. I fold this bedspread to about 12 inches wide, then tuck it under a stretched sheet at the foot of my bed to keep my feet warm. This is a great hot throw. Very happy with this purchase. See what it's like to be as hot as me. Please.
