I just LOVE this little thing! They're not huge - maybe a little bigger than a baseball. (It's been many years since I've held a baseball in my hands, so judge for yourself.) Each ball is a little different because it's carved from Gilalayan salt. I have three more salt lamps. We have two asthmatics in our house and they seem to help clear the air. This candle ONLY uses tea lights. You can buy them almost anywhere for a very low price, so there is no big expense. You will need a stick shaped lighter (the kind you would use for large candles or your grill) as you cannot get the lighter. The match is there if you don't have any matches for the fireplace. Also, DO NOT use votive candles - the wax will melt at the base and make a very big mess. Please only tea lights! They are pink when they are unused in a room. They don't really decay - my salt lamp in the bedroom is probably three years old and you don't even realize I've used it. When you insert and light a tea candle, the glow turns a beautiful orange that is very pleasing to the eye. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase and the product itself. I'd love to give (and receive!) them. If this is your first time trying a Himalayan Light product, this is a great way to do it!
