These lights are fantastic right out of the box, but once you try out the app with Bluetooth, there is no stopping the creative options you have for enjoying these lights.They are USB powered, so you can plug them in to the wall, into your computer or other USB slot, or you can use your own charger! Very versatile.Once you set these up where you want them, you can leave them up all throughout the year because they have so many options! You can have orange, or orange and green for fall; holiday colors for your winter celebrations; you could set them to disco mode for a party; red, white, and blue for July— these are so versatile that they are a real effort and money saver.There is a free app for you to download. With some careful following of instructions (I will not lie to you— it took us some time and effort to follow those instructions properly!) you can have the lights react to the music you are playing (with ours we have to have the music pretty loud or the lights quite close to the speaker).It is actually possible to match the color of your lights to a color of your choice through the camera lens of your phone with the app. I have not tried that yet, but it is a promising option!There are many pre-programmed "scenes” in the app in which you can see how your programming will actually look; options like how what you have programmed will look on a fence, or on a pine tree, etc.Computer whizzes will have even MORE fun than we have had using these lights. I am pretty ludditeThe colors are absolutely brilliant and deeply saturated.OF COURSE there is a timer! OF COURSE they can be used safely outdoors!We have enjoyed playing with these lights, as you can see by the attached video.The only question is how long they will last, which only time will tell. If we have any disappointments in that area, I will post an addendum onto the end of this review. So if you see no addendum, you can assume so far, so GOOD as of December 1st, 2022.
