This handle was used in an old 3 pound hammer with the typical oval eyelet. The notch (notch) is slightly longer, so after installing it on the head and before installing the wedges, it had to cut about a quarter inch from the top (this isn't a problem as I usually cut after the wooden wedge anyway). One downside to this handle is that the end was a bit smaller than I wanted - even with the wooden wedge driven into the cut as deep as possible, there was a bit of volume on the sides of the eye that I wanted to fill. The included metal wedge helped, but I ended up pulling out two more old metal wedges from the removed handles I had lying around and adding them for the nice, tight fit you can see in the picture. Overall I am happy with the pen. Haven't hit anything super powerful yet, but I think it will be ok if I do.
