Best Choice for Clean Laundry

I am expecting my third child and one of my many goals during this time has been to bring an all natural laundry detergent back to the family. We've used Allen's Naturally with my cloth diapers in the past, but this time I went with Charlie's. Having used Tide in my HE washer for the last 2-3 years I fell in love with the smell and really just wanted clean fresh clothes with no odors or chemicals. Also, my 6 year old recently developed skin irritation and my husband always thought it had to do with the cleaning product we were using. I followed the instructions to remove my washing machine and my first load was cloth diapers. It didn't smell at all - just like cloth (I have organic cotton and bamboo nappies). Then I decided to wash some of my t-shirts, which are (embarrassingly) very cool. I can't tell you how many shirts I just threw away because as soon as they got wet all the old sweat came out! After one wash, the residual odors from my t-shirts are significantly gone - there is no perfume in the fabric, but after a day of wear there is no excessive odor! It has to be Charlie's soap because instead of putting more plastic, fabric softener or additives in the fabric, it just washes everything out. I think if I wash my clothes a few more times the old smell should be gone completely. I also have some RLR in case I need a deep clean. Some reviews have said that this solution is really runny and they are used to something thicker. I personally prefer a liquid solution because I know it won't stick to my clothes or car after a rinse. Allen wasn't bad, but it was a lot thicker, and while that made pumping easier, it didn't necessarily make it better for my clothes. I am very happy with this purchase and promise myself to stick with Charlie's this time rather than going back to "traditions" and old habits!
