Review on Enhanced GigaWorks T20 Series II Multimedia Speaker System by Creative Labs with BasXPort Technology by David Lamfers

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great speakers for $80, better than the Bose Companion 2

I needed decent speakers but not overly expensive, so I decided to get decent speakers for less than $100 Find. I bought and tested 3 different kits. *Creative T12 Speakers *Creative T20 Series II Speakers *Bose Companion 2 Series II Speakers Jazz and Country. Here is my brief review based on my experience with each item.1: Creative T12 Speaker PRODUCT: Very small package, nice design, easy setup. Small speakers. Decent construction and overall excellent build quality. The speakers contain a driver. In front of the right speaker is a volume control, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a 3.5mm accessory jack, and a green power indicator. Behind the right speaker is a second 3.5mm jack, a left speaker port, and a power connector. The additional 3.5mm aux jacks are very handy for connecting multiple devices such as MP3 players, gaming headsets, laptops, cellphones etc. These are out of the water in every way. I've noticed that at medium to high volumes the T12s tend to distort the sound heavily, mainly due to the "Bass Flex" technology trying to push their little selves too much. They're not that bad at low to medium volume, but for those who are audiophiles who love sound but don't consider themselves audiophiles, I'd avoid them altogether. The T12's aren't overly loud, loud enough to fill a small living room, but they will likely start to distort the sound. I would ONLY recommend these speakers to people who are looking for a very inexpensive solution to simply amplify the sound on their desktop or laptop. Creative T20 Series II Speaker PRODUCT: Smaller body, better build and better design than T12. The speakers include a driver and a tweeter. In front of the right speaker are a volume knob, bass knob, treble knob, 3.5mm headphone jack, 3.5mm accessory jack, and a blue power indicator surrounding the power knob. Behind the right speaker is a second 3.5mm jack, a left speaker port, and a power connector. These speakers are much larger than those of the T12. The additional 3.5mm aux jacks are very convenient for connecting multiple devices such as MP3 players, gaming headsets, laptops, mobile phones, etc. Speakers have been paired with both Creative T12 speakers and Bose Companion 2 speakers from the Series II compared. They have a bass port on the top of each speaker. After hours of listening side-by-side with T12, T20 beats T12 out of the water in every way. The T20's speakers are better than the Bose Companion 2 Series II, especially in the mids and lows. They don't blow the Bose Companion 2 Series II speakers out of the water, but they definitely sound way better for whatever genre of music I listen to. I would recommend the T20 over the Bose Companion 2 Series II speakers at the same price. However, I think Bose speakers have a slimmer, cleaner design. I would recommend the T20 over the Bose Companion 2 Series II speakers at the same price. However, I have found that somewhere below mid-bass the speakers start to distort quite severely. I preferred to keep the high frequencies at the maximum and the low frequencies in the 30-50% range.3. Bose Companion 2 Series II Speakers PRODUCT: Small package, not too small or too big speakers, perfect size for a small table or kitchen. Very clean, slim design compared to the Creative T20 Series II speakers. The right front speaker has a volume control and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The rear of the right speaker has a power input, 4 RCA inputs (red and white) and a left speaker input. SOUND: Very clear, overall pleasant sound. They lack clarity at mid and low frequencies. They have a very pleasant sound for the size of the speakers, nothing amazing, nothing terrible. They are definitely in the $60-$80 range. You pay more for the Bose name than for a quality product. However, the Creative T20 Series II speakers outperform Bose in every way. For the same money, I would recommend the Creative T20 Series II speakers over Bose, but be aware that Bose still sounds very good for its size and price. If you're stuck buying a Bose and aren't looking for a 'god' speaker, you won't be disappointed, but I'd definitely recommend the Creative T20 Series II speakers instead.
