Avoid: This is a cheap, poorly designed mirror with terrible quality control.

I strongly advise you to avoid this mirror. This mirror was so bad that I wouldn't take it even if they gave it to me for free. It's an $85 mirror at best, which they're trying to pass off as a $200 mirror because it's larger than average. I bought it for my wife's birthday. I paid $216 for it. I thought I would buy a quality mirror. Turns out, it doesn't get any better than the hundreds of makeup mirrors sold at Revain, ranging from $45 to $85. Yes, this one is bigger... but apparently bigger doesn't mean better. All you buy is a big cheap mirror. Its packaging looks terrible. This is definitely not something you want to gift to someone. They shipped it in retail packaging (not intended for shipping). The box had several labels that someone had removed with a utility knife, revealing the raw paper beneath the seal. Since the retail box wasn't meant for shipping, someone wrapped several pieces of tape around it to keep it from falling apart in transit. Unfortunately, it only got worse. When I opened the box, the mirror was covered in a thick layer of dirt and dust. It was so dirty I could draw a face on the mirror with my finger. The mounting hardware just dangled in the box (no bag) which was simply thrown in. (See attached photos.) As another reviewer mentioned, the light source was off-center. Opening the case, I noticed that the light is held to the mirror with cheap plastic clips attached to double-sided foam tape. This is not an heirloom to be passed on to your grandchildren. Whoever assembled the one I bought moved the light about an inch. It was far enough away that one of the three plastic snaps didn't touch the surface it was supposed to be attached to. (See attached photos.) When I bought this mirror, I wasn't aware that it uses a fluorescent lamp and not LEDs. It's my fault for not noticing that...so I won't deduct a star for that. Having said that... the light isn't very bright. I doubt it would make a difference even if centered properly. One of the biggest issues with this mirror is its poor design. The metal is too thin and the connectors are so poorly designed that they are too rigid to change easily. Simply rotating the mirror from 1x to 5x required two hands and some work to flip it. Something you would expect with two fingers. All in all, this mirror gave me a huge headache and I missed my wife getting her surprise birthday present on time. Repackaging and dropping it off at the local Revain drop off point was a huge waste of my valuable time. I ended up buying my wife one of the other $200 mirrors sold at Revain. It's only an 8 inch mirror, but the build quality is 100 times better than this cheap mirror.
