Newer stands are identical to the ones I bought from Guitar Center for three times the price. It works with an 8-inch Samsung tablet, but the circular mounting rings on the bottom make it difficult to use the navigation buttons on the bottom of the tablet. I think I can trim the button a bit to make it easier. I use another of these clips to mount a small Bose Soundlink speaker on the other side of my stand for use as a mini monitor. This required a special plate, velcro and cable to convert a 1/4 plug to a miniTRS plug wired for mono. The cable connects to the speaker's Aux jack.
