Review on πŸ“‘ YoLink Motion Sensor: Longest Range Smart Home Wireless Motion Detector with Alexa & IFTTT Compatibility by Todd Look

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The motion detector works great! The button on the back is hard to find!

I'm totally blind! I got the motion sensor online but it wasn't easy for me. The sensor is round. The sensor has 2 magnets installed on the back. The battery is located on the back of the sensor. For me I want to scan the QR code with my phone; Application. told me to press a button to connect the sensor to the hub. It wasn't easy for me. I didn't feel the button and it took me 5-10 minutes to find the button. The reason is that the button on the back of the sensor is flat and very small. For others who may be able to get this sensor, the button is on the back of the sensor, it is located above the door's battery clip near the top edge of the sensor. This assumes you have a clamp on the top of the sensor. You will feel a small rubber dot at the top edge of the back of the sensor! The key to press is directly below this one and slightly to the right of it. I used the SIM tool to press the button. At this point the sensor is connected to the hub. The sensor also comes with a plate to which you can attach the sensor using the magnets inside the sensor. Now in the app. There are a few things that a person who is completely blind to the sensor at the time of writing cannot change. For example, on my Android phone, I can't change the time the sensor detects motion, so the sensor resets and looks for motion again. Default is 1 minute and I can't change that. It looks like the sensor has 3 settings to adjust its sensitivity that worked as far as I could change them. I then created a routine for Alexa to have the sensor tell me the mailbox door is open when the sensor detects motion. Yes, I put it in the mailbox on the back wall. This works fine for me. Then I created an automation in the YoLink app. To turn on the YoLink siren when opening the mailbox door. This is because the announcement doesn't work when the Echo is in Do Not Disturb mode. But the YoLink Siren will be. This works fine for me too.
