I added a lot of sound deadening material to my '97 Jeep Grand Cherokee so the tailgate is at least 20 pounds taller. It's still capable of holding a heavy tailgate in sub-zero Fahrenheit temperatures. The mounting hardware appears to be more durable than the factory mounting hardware.
