Repaired storage box hinges.
I had a shoe storage box that used those flimsy stamped brass spring hinges to open and close the lid. They both broke due to metal fatigue. I got the gas struts and replaced the broken hinges. They don't have detailed instructions. For easier insertion into the ball sockets, you have to move the retaining spring up a little with a small screwdriver. It now has good opening support and a softer pop when closing.
