Bought one of these for a parking pass for a local sports facility. I got the one with the bead chain magnet because I thought it would be more adjustable and therefore more versatile. Aside from not doing it, it just hurt getting the chain tight enough around my pickup truck's mirror pillar. Luckily, you can buy plastic hooks in packs of two and they solve the problem. Now the product works like the proverbial magic and I have a spare hook in case I need to use the holder in another car. Moral of the story: know your app and get the right tool for the job.
