Canvas top as expected. The bottom is thick, sticky, gummy, so I think you would buy them. These are not comfortable shoes. I don't know how people drive in it. The top is not soft. The insoles are very flat and offer almost no cushioning. In fact, under the insole there is very thick rubber, it seems to be there for cushioning, but it's not soft, it's very hard. I bought for MTB so that the rubber sticks to the pedals. For that it works great. And they don't have to be very comfortable because I don't wear them often. I wouldn't buy them for running.
