Review on 250-Pack of Amazon Basics Heavy-Duty Plastic Forks in Black by Alex Solano

Good forks but they don't take the heat

These plastic forks are fine. There are much better alternatives and I have no intention of buying them again. In most cases they work well, but there are a few notable problems with them: 1. The biggest problem is that the forks deform very quickly with heat. If you cook a piece of meat and then after a few minutes stick one of those forks into it, even for a few seconds, all the ends of the tines will curl up as if they're about to melt. I've never had a single crack or complete meltdown, but I still worry about what chemicals might get into my food when the plastic softens and deforms. Also, you can't use a fork effectively with all of the tines screwed in, which is why I use a lot of forks. The packaging is really not perfect. What you think at first is just a packing box, actually a fork container. They are only in a very thin plastic bag in the box. I haven't really found a good way to store and access them; You can either put the big open box away somewhere (leave the forks open) or move it to another container. On the other hand, I don't think these forks break as easily as many other brands. However, I think it's because the plastic is so soft and malleable, which is also a downside. I think Revain Basics should use tougher plastics - somewhere between the current Revain Basics forks and the heavy Solo forks that are the gold standard. Plastic silver strength in my opinion.

Pros
  • Good for hot food up to 80°C (176°F)
Cons
