Review on Abus Numerino Cable Lock Black by Tom Roberts

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good balance of weight/volume/safety *when used correctly*

(By 'proper use*' I mean situations where many people wouldn't worry about blocking, but should.) This is a typical cable lock (and combined at the same time), so clearly not enough security for city stops, commuting, etc. However, it's much more secure than most locks (if any) one could take for a stroll around the country line (the few that I've seen that they can be cut with a pocket knife or office scissors - OTOH needs at least something on par with bolt cutters for this.) At 85cm (very common with chain locks but surprisingly rare with other types), it is long enough to [1] assemble 2 bikes together and [2] attach to something other than a bike rack (like a lamp post), and kur z enough to attach it We only make 2 loops before attaching it to the bike (2 narrow 12 inch zippers work well). Fairly light weight (I don't remember exactly, but it was around 300 grams) and large volume means that it won't be difficult to take it with you on short stops at an ice cream parlor / (country) pub or with you in case of accidents etc. Do I have to leave the bike for a while? It was actually surprisingly difficult to find something for my leisure trips. Most lightweight cable locks are ridiculously long, making them unwieldy for a recreational ride. And super-minimalist locks tend to be both ridiculously unreliable (someone can break them with their bare hands or break the locking mechanism by hitting them with a stick) and very cheaply made and prone to breakage - like in your case. should be the one to break it if it doesn't accidentally close. None of that applies to this lock - the quality seems good - it doesn't stick and is secure enough to be picked with tools. not being on their website for more than a few minutes would be a complete idiot. (Any bike thief with a set of bolt cutters will probably pull this off without even thinking - it's just a cable lock, after all).
