I came across this article while looking for a light, compact and unobtrusive camera mount and some accessories. It's well built, not flimsy. The handles are well designed. Three holes on each section are threaded (two 1/4-20 and one 3/8"), but they're painted over, so the threads aren't clean. Painting the threads doesn't make tightening impossible, but I did bought a 1/4-20 tap to clean up the tracks for smoother threading in. I rated this item 4 stars due to a defect caused by a bad painting technique that you can see in one of the photos. As another reviewer noted, the paint scratches easily. Anodizing instead of painting would be excellent but would greatly increase the cost of the product. Powder coating is durable but adds weight and cost. Although this item is innovative and well designed, I believe it could be cheaper than the $59.95 price tag. I bought it for $49.95 but I still feel like it could have been cheaper. It's great for hiking and traveling where it's typically impractical to use or carry over-the-shoulder gear. Camera cages can function similarly with enough accessories, but they lack the flexibility offered by this article to easily convert them into a different shape.
