Review on πŸ”Š Wireless Multiroom Speaker - Beosound 1 by Bang & Olufsen, New York by Scott Adaymiln

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Elegantly designed speaker with excellent performance

I I've always been a big fan of Bang and Olufsen and I also have a few speakers from this brand so I'm only rating them subjectively based on what I have (including an Apple Homepod for perspective) with various aspects: Sound field: A9 4th Gen > Beosound Edge > Beosound Balance > A9 MKI > Beosound stage > Beosound 1 > HomePod > A6Bass: Beosound Edge > Beosound stage > A9 4th gen > A9 MKI > Beosound Balance > A6 = HomePod >= Beosound 1Medium to high range (piano, vocals, etc.) ) Beosound Edge > A9 4th generation > Beosound Balance > A9 MKI = Beosound 1 > A6 > HomePod > Beosound stage When you open the box, you can first thing you may think maybe "it's a lot more than i thought". Even after taking this video I found that it appears so small in almost all reviews or pictures but is actually quite big, in fact it's even bigger than the Homepod. I know it's not a big deal to talk about the size of the speaker, but the original purpose of this product is to be portable because it has a rechargeable battery. Judging from the portability, I have to say that if you're looking for a slimmer and sleeker replacement for the Beolit 17, this isn't your pick. It has no straps or handles. And to be honest, since battery life was considered when designing this speaker, performance definitely took a hit (usually more amplifier power means more powerful sound). But if portability doesn't bother you, this is a pretty good speaker. It produces a really loud sound due to its rather small body. The bass has its own power but is not overwhelming, the top end is crystal clear. While compared to larger speakers (e.g. Beosound Balance) it can be harder to ask it to excel at a symphony (it doesn't sound bad by any means), given the dynamic performance or room compensation technology that makes the speaker do it forces to produce such a sound would fill space (HomePod, Balance, a9 mk4, etc.), the design and performance for pop music, female vocals and higher frequency instruments such as the violin can easily justify the tiny weakness of the speaker.

Pros
  • 360 degree sound - Beosound 1 delivers sound quality sound Using our Acoustic Lens technology in a conical speaker housing creates a 360 degree sound image that fills the room from any position
Cons
  • Makes me angry
