Review on G Skill Trident PC4 28800 CL16 19 19 39 F4 3600C16D 16GTZNC by Andy Quade

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Does not work reliably at advertised 3600MHz, 2 different sets.

Probably not needed but I wanted more RGB, I had a couple of 3200 CL16's that worked fine but I wanted to hit the recommended speed of 3600MHz and run Infinity Fabric at 1800. So I bought this set based on some YT reviews from reputable hardware reviewers showing them to be the best performers on the latest AMD 3000 processors. The gain for me is probably minimal, but I just wanted to get almost every frame out get out of my 3700X. So far everything is running smoothly and without problems. And RGB looks good. Edit: It was soon said the RAM was stable, when it chose to run at 3600Mhz it wasn't running at the advertised speed on boot and the BIOS kept reverting to default. Tried again and again to no avail, only booted at advertised speed 25 percent of the time, had no problems with my 3200mhz ram, had to refund, I'm giving the same ram another try but this time with 32GB, honestly not sure this is so was the memory i got or if my x570 motherboard doesn't like that part. Edit 2: Just installed the 32GB version (16GB modules). Seems like a good start. After a few reboots to see if it supports 3600Mhz everything is fine and I'm not getting the problems that it was (8GB modules) but I'll see if it holds up on day one. Edit 3: Now a warning on the last update of this review, the same with 32GB after a short time it doesn't run at the advertised 3600MHz at boot. If you have ASROCK X570 Extreme motherboard with the latest BIOS, do not buy this memory as it cannot safely boot with XMP enabled. Will have to return the second set.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • Long wait
