I've looked at this style before and just wasn't sure how safe they are. After the surgery, my occupational therapist at home recommended I buy one, which I did. I like them because they seem to lock, although the lock is a bit tricky to close. How well they stick over time depends on the surface. The surface must be clean and flat (not deformed at all). I got two and one has stuck firmly since I applied it two months ago. The other is on a surface that moves slightly, causing the bottom seal to loosen over a few days. I always check both handles before use and only tighten the loose one when checking. They are NOT designed to support full body weight, but for balance and stability. If a person is very unbalanced, screw-in grips must be installed. For those who just need a little help to stay stable, this is good.
