Avoid inductive loads

I love these plugs and use them for many purposes around the house and garden. They are easy to install and program with an app for very simple control rules. The low power requirement and the extremely long ranges allowed for these devices make them extremely attractive. I have 8 temperature sensors, 3 motion sensors, 3 connectors and a DC relay. I will continue to use Yolink products for many years to come. The reason I can't give this a fifth star is that it uses a mechanical relay (you'll hear a "click" when it turns on and off), but it can't handle an inductive load (like a power tool or heating coil). to process ). I've never seen a properly sized mechanical relay fail due to the nature of the load on the switch. However, my first plug died after about 8 months with a small (<200w) heater. It's still connected and the LED is cycling from red to blue and back again, but no power is being applied. Finally, the Yolink app needs a little help before this prime-time setup is ready. 1) Must be able to turn plugs on and off based on two threshold criteria (to simulate hysteresis). 2) The base station must work without an internet connection (my ISP regularly cuts the connection for several hours, and I live right next to a major subway station). 3) The whole Yolink system needs better integration support for popular third-party automation nodes like Google Nest, Home Assistant and others that implement the most popular transport protocols.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibrations
Cons
  • No power
