When working with this file, it makes sense to carry a jewelry loupe. This way you can see how your edit affects the edge you are trying to sharpen. Another trick is to mark the edge with a marker so you can see how much of the edge you filed. Using lubricant speeds up the feeding process. The folding handle seems an oddity to me. I think it just makes the file more wobbly and delicate. I would prefer if the file has no moving parts. You could ship it with a solid grip and a plain sheath. It would be less likely to break. I don't really need to carry the file in my bag. I'm not that picky that I need to sharpen an edge in the middle of a project. For what it is, I find the file a bit overpriced.
