Fits easily into existing socket. The directions weren't as simple as red to red, white to white, black to black, and earth to earth, but they were easy to understand. I had the original Hunter for about 10 years but it didn't suit me. Hunter broke one of his switches about 5 years ago, the other about 2 years ago, making it impossible to adjust neither the light nor the fan speed. Finally decided enough was enough, wanted to increase the light and lower the fan, that got the job done. Edit 9/25/2020: How to go from 5 to 1 star in 2 1/2 months. My experience was better than many ratings 1, 2 and 3, after all I lasted 2-1/2 months without a dimmer. When I installed it both switches worked very well and I was very satisfied. Then, a week and a half ago, the light stopped dimming, almost all 1-3 reviews point to this. I changed the light bulbs, there was no difference, I reread all the instructions, I didn't break anything. Then I started reading lower values and found the problem.
