DEFINITELY absorbs all the oxygen!
I put one of these in every 1 gallon Mylar bag when I sealed my flour and potato flakes. I sealed the bags with an iron and after a few hours the bags looked like they were vacuum sealed. Since there are 25 pieces in a bag, you should be ready to use quickly. I used my iron to reseal the wrapper they came in as I hadn't used all 25 and then put that resealed wrapper in a glass jar.
