A simple product that just works and is also good for root extraction!

A simple product that just works. Very hard work and a lot easier than using the chain alone. If you have a lot of T-pillars to lug around, get this. Update 12/14/2017: I've had this item for 18-24 months and I still LOVE it! that you can get the chain around. Wrap the chain around the root, thread the chain link through the narrow vertical slot. Then place the puller on the hook of your jack with the narrow slot holding the chain facing down (upside down like in the marketing image). You can now pull almost straight up at the root or stump of the bush. All you need is a chain with a hook on one end, just use a "sliding" hook so it tightens itself when you pull on it. Do it yourself at the hardware store and save 50%. Sometimes the jack wants to tip forward under load on a very hard root or tree stump. In this case I'll attach a T-bar or maybe a 2x4 about 4-5 feet long to the top of the jack to an adjustable clamp/bracket, then I'll wedge the other end into the ground in front. as suspenders. You must do it RIGHT ahead of time for this to work. This will prevent the jack from tipping forward when you pull it up. You can use two triangular T-pillars if you need to span a log or pole. Just make sure you use a VERY strong screw. Also, sometimes the jack wants to tip forward when you pull the T-bar. If your jack has an adjustable top clamp/fork, rotate forward and then push the tip into the groove on the T-bar while raising the rack. Wear gloves and keep your fingers away in case it slips off. However, if you keep an eye on it, you can usually prevent it.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
