Wow, I can't believe how something so simple could become such a problem. It turns out that the ALLEN WRENCH FITS IN 2 OF THE 4 HOLES IN THE WRENCH, that's all. Why didn't anyone else mention this? Especially Dewalt, why didn't they mention it in their manual? Of course there were a few hints in the reviews and questions, but they were all too vague. I finally took a good look at the flange nut and found it. Now that I said it, I don't care anyway. I always hand tighten the grinding wheels and brushes as clockwise rotation tightens anyway. Removal is usually done by holding the spindle lock and unscrewing it with a sharp-edged glove or spoked wheels. Sometimes they're too tight for that, so I use a wrench. As for this grinder, it's great! Powerful, small, with steering column switch. The switch is important to me because those on/off sliders are too hard to manipulate with gloves on and are actually dangerous. I don't want the spoked wheel to get tangled up in my clothes and would struggle desperately to get it off. The security lock works perfectly and serves its purpose. My Black and Decker Firestorm Grinder has a large paddle switch with no fuse, and sometimes just turning it on will turn it off. It's too easy to switch at the worst of times. *Disclaimer* I have paid retail and do not sell my opinions for knick knacks and freebies.
