It's not rocket science but instructions would be nice

These frames come without instructions. They work great once you get the hang of it. This isn't rocket science. My instructions are as follows: First off, these braces are designed to mount just backwards from the OEM sunroof spacers. In other words, the end of the gas cylinder is attached to the hatch, and the end of the rod is attached to the body. Tools needed: 12mm open-end wrench 5/8" open-end wrench (grievance, almost everything else in the car is metric) Support (wood, plastic pipe or other to hold the sunroof open). If your car still has trim strips where the standard pillar meets the body, remove them. they snap. (Complaint, the end of these replacement posts is too small to reuse the decorative caps.) Use needle nose pliers to remove the "electronic clip" from the hinge pin. Lift the hatch weight and remove the end of the strut from the shaft. Use the prop to support the hatch. Using a 12mm open-end wrench, unscrew the ball joint from the sunroof. After making sure the other end of the strut is floating freely, you can screw it in slightly. When the weight of the sunroof is on it, it becomes very difficult to turn and there is a risk of damaging the threads. If you compare the length of the original ball joint and the replacement that came with these struts, you will find that the replacement is shorter. The white plastic disc extends the replacement to the same length as the original. This is important so that the knot does not stick. Using a 5/8" open-end wrench, install the new ball joint and washer. Slide the stem end of the new shock absorber onto the driveshaft and secure with a new electronic clamp. Make sure the electronic clip is secure. While gently squeezing the new strut, snap the end of the ball joint over the new ball joint. There should already be a drop of grease at the end of the ball joint. If not, you need to add lubricant. Repeat for the other side of the car. After installing it on my 1995 Acura Integra GSR, if you open the sunroof and raise it about 6 inches, the new struts take over and raise the rest. Just like when the car was new, by the way. I forgot how nice it was. Cons: no instructions, mixed English and metric tools, unable to lock onto moldings.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Almost OK
