Review on πŸ”Œ Enhanced Connectivity with Hopkins 48465 Blade Connector Kit by Tyrazz Abouzar

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Plugs are fine, bracket and instructions. Out of service

These are standard connectors, a good buy when bought together. The included bracket is a little flimsy and hangs about a half inch too far in my opinion and eventually gets damaged by hanging under the floor of the class 3 hitch receiver made by Draw Tite. So I decided to make my own "Mondo" clamp that lifts the connector higher. This means that the plug isn't the first to scratch the ground on a steep driveway. I'm a little picky about things like this, but for the average person, a flimsy mount might be fine. However, you will need to put some electro grease on the pins to make plugging and unplugging easier and to prevent the bracket from bending when you pull it out. Incidentally, the holes in this flimsy mount line up perfectly with the holes in the tabs welded to the Draw-Tite hitch. I was initially very happy with this as Hopkins' Revain ad didn't list dimensions to confirm the holes would fit my new Draw-Tite clutch. But in the end I didn't use the orthosis because I felt it was too weak. When installing the connectors, ignore the wire color codes marked on the two connectors, they are incorrect. Colored labels (brown, white, green, red, etc.) printed next to each connector do not match the US trailer cord plug pattern: BROWN for gap/tail, GREEN for right signal, YELLOW for left signal, and WHITE. for grounding (4-wire system). The instructions you receive can easily be misinterpreted. I strongly encourage you to google the phrase "trailer wiring" and you will find good pictures with a clear and accurate diagram to ensure you are complying with the US Trailer Wiring Convention. Getting this right is very important if you ever want to pull a friend's pendant, etc.
