This table is made entirely of pine. Boring, monophonic, even suits the floor. The flat black chairs didn't liven up the atmosphere. It was a country house with cheap lounge furniture and I finally decided to give it a personality. The legs and feet are covered with two layers of gray chalk paint with a thin and intentionally uneven layer of wax. I don't like the blotchy brush strokes most people do. I applied strokes here and there and then quickly smoothed over the entire area with a brush as far as I could stretch. It definitely looks old and unstaged. The top consists of six layers of wax. No grinding, no grinding, nothing but polishing. After a week of the recommended treatment I had a small dinner party with heavy plates and no coasters, a pot of iced tea, a little sweaty and a fairly warm pot on the table. Nothing. Got up great. Unupholstered, chairs painted white, and $5 pillows added (now you know exactly which one is after that in the photo). I won't leave a comment on the color because I've been ordering more of this wax and started filling a number of projects with it for different purposes and it works for everything. I'm about to duplicate a pecan wood texture over a plain brown color in an entertainment center and it works like a charm. The small scattered strokes of the brush turned into long strokes, very light but enough to texturize more than 100% of the surface. Then a thick coat over it. The streaks are clearly visible as grain, and the brown color did a good job of lightening the overall profile. That wax on everything is one thing.
