Somehow I didn't think that cat litter of all kinds needs air to dry in order to control the smell. The idea that the cat bowl can be completely covered to reduce the smell of the cat pan doesn't go anywhere. There isn't enough airflow in the bedding to dry out the bedding (I've tried crystal bedding, hard clump bedding and regular clay bedding) and I ended up having to remove the top and front doors to allow the bedding to move freely. dry to control odor as much as possible; and litter is still tracked everywhere, just like a regular cat bowl.
