Great entry-level DSLR!

What can I say? This little camera is amazing! Of course, this is not a flagship with all the trimmings, but this camera can hold its own, especially for beginners. PROS: - Excellent entry-level DSLR - Allows full manual control of settings as well as aperture priority and shutter speed modes. - Decent number of focus points - Kit lens focuses quickly and performs surprisingly well in low light - Seems easy enough to quickly change settings when shooting in Manual/AP/SP modes (although it would be great to have a different one dial) - The battery lasts quite a long time, especially when you're not using Live View or the flash. I can easily take several hundred photos without worrying. Light weight, I can easily shoot with one hand. The photos look just fantastic. small in hand. My pinky tends to hang down the bottom of the grip - an aftermarket battery grip would be a nice addition to help with this and extend battery life. Framing Sensor Body (DX) means that any non-DX Nikon lens (or sensor format sensor from Sigma/Tamron etc.) is approximately 1.5x the lens focal length (e.g. a non-DX 85mm -Lens like a 127mm lens) - not necessarily a disadvantage if you're aware - no high-speed flash sync. Only goes to 1/200 sec. Not much, but limits some of the creative possibilities of using the flash - max F3.5. Aperture will not blur the background/bokeh as much as you want for portraits. You either need to invest in a faster lens (f1.8-2.8) or you can get creative with Photoshop/Lightroom - No WiFi (but you can buy an adapter for it) - Neither Lightroom nor CamRanger are supported for tethering. While this is a bummer, there are workarounds as well as other programs that work just fine. All in all, this is a really great camera kit for beginners or even those who have shot with a DSLR before. It has all the features you need to learn photography and create great photos. I absolutely do not regret the purchase. I have attached some photos taken with this camera. Some of them were taken with the included lens, others with the 85mm f/1.8 lens.

Pros
  • GOLS certificate
Cons
