Review on ⚡ OOYCYOO MPPT Charge Controller K100A - 100 Amp Solar Panel Charge Regulator with LCD Display for 12V/24V Auto Battery Systems by Marcus Munoz

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Overheating, not reliable.

Let's start with the positives - the 60A/100V version of this product is a true MPPT controller! For the price, this is the cheapest device on the market and I had high hopes based on the positive reviews from other buyers. Now the reason for the 1-star rating: The passive cooling system is not enough to keep the device cool under load, so it quickly heats up and freezes when charging. You can reset the device by disconnecting and reconnecting the batteries and then crossing your fingers in case the next error occurs, but this happens multiple times a day. I didn't even get close to the maximum current or voltage readings before the controller crashed and turned out to be sub-par. If you depend on solar power to get you working, do yourself a favor and get a more reliable option. You might be able to add your own active cooling and make it a solid device, but in terms of time and cost I'd say you're better off with a Renogy or MidNite charge controller.

Pros
  • Excellent design
Cons
  • The list will be long.
