My little one loves bright colors.
The light from the clock is enough for my 11 year old daughter to read with and not be afraid to be alone in her room at night. She really likes when my door is open I hear the alarm. Impossible to wake her up and I still go there to get her out of bed in the morning! She can even sleep with a loud alarm on her iPhone/iPod! We were a bit confused with the instructions as I thought the time would be visible with a backup battery. It is not. This saves time and is correct when power is restored.
