Black and white instructions/template. The template is printed in one font and the characters are easily distinguishable from each other. However, the key is handwritten and some of the characters in the key can be easily confused if you are not careful. For example, one handwritten character is a hyphen and the other is the same hyphen, only bold. I mixed these two colors before realizing that the symbols are very similar. Because the pattern is only black and white, all reverse stitches in the pattern look the same. Then there are instructions to tell you what color to use.1. You must use a sample color photo to know exactly where each color is. 2. It doesn't list all the colors because the sample photo shows blue stitching among animals, but the color list of these stitching doesn't list this blue color.3. it only talks about the color with the words "Dk. Purple" and not the DMC number. So you have to go back to the key and look up the name of that color to find the number. Overall, this isn't the best template I've used. However, the finished product is amazing!
