For some reason Dyson decided to put a groove on the back of the roller which couldn't be better designed to trap lint and dirt rather than let it through. The parachute is fine. There is a removable lid to clean this trap which I think proves it was intentional. If they really thought it was that important, I'd rather just install a built in dirt trap along the length of the pipe rather than stopping and taking it apart multiple times in one use. On the other hand, the roller is very easy to take out to remove the hair. and other fibers attached to it.
