Review on Superior Pump 92551 Cast Pedestal by Matt Hamilton

Our basement has a small hole for a drain pump that only runs when needed - about 2-3 months a year. For the first 10 years in the house we used a pump installed by the previous owners and when it finally died we installed a Basement Watchdog pump that didn't even last a season. We changed the pump every year for about 5 years, either by buying new or under warranty, until I finally gave up the cellar guard. We have a half pump in the basement with a different hole that had a Superior Pump floor pump that worked for years with no problems, so we decided to buy a second one to replace the problematic Basement Watchdog pump. The first Superior pump used an included float, the latest does not, and instead uses a smaller sensor to turn the pump on and off. Your mounting adapters may require a transition from the pump outlet, but these are easy to find at most hardware stores. The changeover from the Basement Watchdog pump to the Superior pump took about 30 minutes, with most of the time spent installing the plumbing rather than the pump itself. I had to contact Superior Pump about an issue with one of the pumps and they were exceptionally helpful. The problem was probably defective from the start as the pump was much noisier than the other ones I had and over time it stopped pumping with any force. We quickly exchanged a few messages to confirm and fix the problem, then sent a replacement pump free of charge. The only minor issue I would like to point out is that the packaging is quite flimsy as others have documented in their reviews. I had no obvious damage when one of the pumps was delivered to me, but I can see the packaging may be damaged. The base and top of the pump are covered in styrofoam and all my pumps were placed in a different box reducing the chance of damage. Despite the packaging I still highly recommend the pump and only recommend checking the stand and switch to make sure everything is in order when you receive your package.
