Over the years I have bought my mother-in-law 2 different digital photo frames, each with their own problems. I liked the idea that I could send photos straight to the frame from my phone, so I decided to give it a try. I think we finally have a goalkeeper. For the record, I have a W09 Plus frame. I know vendors often change their products without changing the Revain link, which is why you read reviews of older models and/or other products. My rating for this model PROS: - The frame is touchscreen and works very well. There is no remote control, but it is not needed either. There are buttons on the back for volume up or down, play and power, but to be honest I didn't really explore them (other than turning them on) as the touchscreen did everything I needed. The frame can be displayed vertically. or horizontally, and the images will be rotated automatically. There are holes on the back for hanging on the wall, although the cord still needs to be behind it to prevent the frame from sitting flush with the wall. (Battery not available.) Table stand included. It is flexible so you can place the frame at any angle you like. The size of the internal memory is about 12 GB. I currently have 570 photos occupying 2GB. On the back there is space for USB sticks and SD cards for additional external storage. The rear space also seems large enough to fit most standard-sized flash drives. I've included a picture of the back of the frame for reference. The display is bright and clear. (See photo). The controls for changing your settings are easily navigated using the touchscreen. You can change slideshow duration (5 seconds to 5 minutes), slide show transition effect (4 options and random), motion sensor duration (30 seconds to 30 minutes or continuous display), dual screen, auto rotate, etc. The settings are retained even when the frame is turned off. In the picture I've included there is a small clock in the corner. This can also be turned off so that only the photo is displayed. - "Random" mode is truly random and when the frame is on. It doesn't always start with the same photo. Once the frame is connected to Wi-Fi, the app downloaded to your phone, and the phone is connected to the frame, you can simply select photos to send to the frame. They are automatically added to the photos that are already in the internal memory. (I haven't tried any external storage devices.) - AFTER SETTING UP AND CONNECTING TO YOUR WIFI, MY MILIA DOES NOT NEED TO DO ANYTHING TO GET NEW PHOTOS. Hallelujah.- Several people can send photos to the frame. You just need to download the app and enter the frame id to link/join the frame. Once the phone is connected to the frame via the app, the frame user must go into their settings and accept the new user in order for pictures to be sent. It looks like there is a way to add more than one frame to a single person app. For example, both groups of grandparents can have their own frame and selected photos can be sent to one or all frames. I haven't tried this, but I can see where you can select recordings from different people from the app to send. Lots of versatility. While we'll use it as a standard slideshow frame, you could have a standard calendar or weather on one side with photos on the other, clock, alarm, etc. I accidentally included a video so I can tell The video and sound quality is also very good. However, it doesn't appear that the videos are automatically included in the slideshow. You have to go to the video to see them. CONS: - Connecting the frame to Wi-Fi and downloading the application is very simple; However, attaching my phone to the frame wasn't very easy. "Enter frame ID" sounds clear until you realize there are two frame IDs, one for the phone and one for the frame. I played with it for about 15 minutes and entered two codes in different places and in the end it worked. 15 minutes of a bit of frustration made me grateful that this process only had to be done once. - You can only select 9 photos at a time to send through the app. Sending takes about 10-20 seconds, and then you can send up to 9 more times. It's okay to randomly send photos back and forth, but if you want to upload a frame in hundreds, it takes a while. It's easy to add photos from your computer using the included microUSB/USB cable by dragging and dropping them into the frame's DSIM folder when it's open on your computer. The frame says auto-rotate, which I think just means that if you rotate the frame 90 degrees, the photos will also be flipped. However, many of my photos were upside down after framing and were not automatically rotated to display correctly. However, the touchscreen makes it very easy to rotate them properly, and they stay rotated even after turning the bezel off and on again. It's a minor downside considering how easy it is to fix. I haven't tried entering photos by any means other than the app on my phone and transferring them from a computer via a USB cable. I can't talk through other means of sharing photos (Facebook, Twitter, email, etc.). All in all, this 'set and forget' frame is exactly what we're looking for for my mother-in-law and well worth putting the phone on the frame. I'll admit I'm a bit jealous and want one for myself!
