Very Good Product: Computers and Accessories

This is a really working whole house HDMI distribution system! I've been looking for something like this for a while. I am a recently retired AV Engineer from a major university and a Network+ certified. All courses are digital these days, and I've been doing that for years. We used commercial audiovisual products that worked well but were prohibitively expensive for home use. There are many products that take HDMI from point A to point B, but the multi-screen proliferation in the consumer market has been elusive. The genius of this product is that it uses the Ethernet protocol, which means an inexpensive unmanaged switch can be used as a multi-port splitter and extender (Ethernet can travel 100 meters at a time, but when it goes through the switch, if this is not the case, the range starts higher again). You must use a dedicated switch as it uses a broadcast address and clogs all other connected devices, but I use a $25 5 port switch and it works fine. As for the installation, I have the background and tools to do it myself. If you pay someone, the cost will increase significantly. I split the signal on my DVR and sent it to the mixer and from there to 3 other screens around the house. . I ran a CAT5A cable through the attic, ran it up the walls and plugged it into the RJ45 jacks myself. The cost was $180 for the transmitter and 3 receivers, $25 for the splitter, $25 for the switch. I already had a box of CAT5 cables on hand. To do this with commercial products I've used in the past this would cost around $1800. Here's one very important thing to know: for best results, the source signal and destination devices must match. The 1080i source must match the 1080i destinations. Otherwise, you should reply that the target device can scale the image correctly, if at all possible. Because of this, I think some people can get bad results. I am satisfied with his product and would recommend him. I received NO promotions for this review and paid full price. I just love the product.
