Great product - longer shelf life needed

I've been using this video distribution system for 5 years now. I have a central media cabinet and send the signal to 2 TVs. It was great and I have no lag between the surround sound output and the video in my living room and the video quality is good. Broadcasts store the signal across multiple screens. The big complaint is almost in a calendar day when the recipients drop out after two years. Otherwise great system but expect replacement receiver in 2 years.

Pros
  • Free for educational use
Cons
  • Not bad

Very Good Product: Computers and Accessories

This is a really working whole house HDMI distribution system! I've been looking for something like this for a while. I am a recently retired AV Engineer from a major university and a Network+ certified. All courses are digital these days, and I've been doing that for years. We used commercial audiovisual products that worked well but were prohibitively expensive for home use. There are many products that take HDMI from point A to point B, but the multi-screen proliferation in the consumer…

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Expensive

They don't last forever.

I love this product. I bought 4 of these in 2016. Since then, advanced security monitors have been running 24/7. In the last few weeks, 2 of these receivers have failed. I have just ordered 2 more replacement parts from Revain. Again, this is a great product, but they have a life expectancy that doesn't go beyond the original cost. By the way: The associated transmitter works perfectly. Thank you Cable Matters!

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Not sure

Update: I spoke to Cable Matters and they sent me a free replacement as a one time service. I assume I'm stuck with lemons and hope it doesn't happen again. Rating upgrade to 3 stars. I had a transmitter and 4 receivers with a 5-port TP-LINK Gigabit Ethernet Desktop Switch (TL-SG105). It was easy to install and worked well to meet our needs. 3 out of 4 worked fine and the 4th didn't work from the start (very often total loss of image). Until recently, I blamed the TV when the second one also…

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Nothing

Conforms to the description, I recommend.

Tested with another TX/RX kit bought together. I used a dedicated switch (10/100 Mbps) and a Cat5 cable + a Cat6 UTP cable to split the TV source in the living room into 2 bedrooms, no problem and I don't see any lack of resolution. The only thing is that the IR-TX/RX doesn't seem to be very responsive and I have to keep resetting the settings on both ends.

Pros
  • Very fast delivery
Cons
  • No instructions
